Moving abroad
Congratulations! You have taken the step to live and work abroad. What are all the issues you should be aware of when moving to another country? You will find a checklist here so that you can be sure that you are well prepared to start your life as an expat:
 

  • Ensure that your diplomas are validated in the relevant country (www.nuffic.nl).
  • Make certified copies of your most important documents such as your passport, birth certificate and diplomas at your local municipality.
  • Make the appropriate arrangements to obtain a work and/or residence permit for yourself and, if applicable, your partner (and children).
  • Make an appointment with the Municipal Health Service (GGD) for vaccinations and inoculations.
  • Ensure your family or friends can take over your financial affairs in the Netherlands.
  • Already check out where your children can go to school.

  • Find accommodation in your country of destination.
  • Cancel running subscriptions/connections (telephone, magazines, newspapers, etc.).
  • Sell or rent your current accommodation.
  • Have yourself deregistered from the population register.
