DUBAI

Dubai’s residents shrug their shoulders: amusement parks, resorts on strange islands, the highest skyscrapers, so what? “Sand and camels, that’s what we should be proud of.” This is why expats and native Emiratis go en masse to the desert for horse racing, dune-crossing in all-terrain vehicles and to picnic in-between the dredging vessels.

Climate/working climate
Dubai has a subtropical desert climate and the temperature fluctuates between 32 and 41° C between April and November. The average day temperature is 25° C outside this period.

The level of tolerance is higher in Dubai
The expats in Dubai can name many differences with regard to the lifestyle and culture in general when compared to the other emirates. They are, for example, more tolerant in Dubai about other religions. Alcohol is permitted during Ramadan and more Western clothing is tolerated than in other parts of the country. This is mainly due to the oil reserves in Dubai. They have other interests because the oil reserves are relatively lower than in, for example, Abu Dhabi. Dubai wants to become the most important business and tourist centre of the Middle East.
