IVORY COAST

This West African country, one of the most prosperous in Africa, has not been in the news very positive during the past few years. After their independence in 1960 the country has developed significantly, thanks to good relations with France. When this economic development went backwards, the ethnic-religious conflicts increasingly forwarded. The unstable political situation of Côte d'Ivoire has resulted in a significant debt and misery.

Côte d'Ivoire is a country with a wonderful nature: white beaches, forests, mountains, rainforests and oases. The music and wood carvings of the local population are just as special.

Climate/ Working climate:
In the tropical area in the south, rain pours throughout the year. Especially in the months May, June and July the rainfall is very high. The temperatures during the day are at least 22°C and 32°C at max. In the northern savannah the rainfall is quite less and there is even a dry period during December, January and February. Cause of lower humidity than the south, the heat in the north is better tolerated.

The inhabitants of the Ivory Coast have a relaxed character and are often very polite. The greet each other for health, family and work. It is rude to do business without first greeting. Men shake hands while woman kiss each other 3 times on the check. In social functions it is polite to shake hands with everyone whenever you enter and leave.
