Newsletter Autumn 2008

A lot is going on in the expat world this autumn. There are various events, fairs
and conferences. Despite the ups and downs that comes with the financial
crisis, expats continue to be on the move. It is especially now that opportunities
can appear that can ensure that your dream job becomes attainable.

Trade and industry is being cautious and has a wait-and-see attitude. This is
understandable but it will only be temporary. LEX candidates are ready and
soon we will be aiming to attain a joint goal together with customers: to
achieve the best result possible.

At LEX we are, of course, making things happen. We would, therefore, like to
share our news with you.

Expat fairs, local and global!

The Asian Challenge, Feel At Home in The Hague, I am not a tourist, Webster
University, Léman Expat and International Entrepreneurship events have been
visited by LEX staff. Our aim? To find new candidates, to network and to
discover rewarding projects. Our formula was deemed as the solution by quite
a few people. We are doing our outmost to deliver!

The weird and wonderful Asiatic expat world
‘Full of opportunities and probably the most varied continent in the world’

The booming expat world in Asia is growing. Sizeable companies from the
whole world are setting themselves up in this beautiful continent for strategic
reasons. Why? Here is where it is happening. It is clear that Asians attach a lot of
value to personal contact. This means that they will not be quick to place an
order with someone they do not personally know. A very good reason,
therefore, for us to invest some time and effort in studying this area in more detail.
Literally because LEX steeped itself in the culture of doing business in Asia.

Our team left for Singapore and Beijing at the beginning of October to personally
introduce LEX. Read more...

News from the field!
Different surveys have been carried out to determine the quality of the lives of
expats the past few weeks. These have shown that the Netherlands is not doing
badly at all. Expats stay in the Netherlands for at least a year and approximately
80% of expats even stay for 3 years.

Other interesting locations are:

  • Dubai, due to the luxurious living.
  • Singapore, due to the beautiful houses and its favourable taxation climate.
  • India due to the low cost of living.

It is remarkable that our popular holiday destinations such as France and Spain
are bottom of the list. This is due to the less favourable income that can be
realised according to researchers. For this, you are better of in India or Hong
Kong. Click here for the full survey of the HSBC.
